Before Existence: The Goddesses create the world. They imprint their teachings into the hearts and spirits of all their children, the Talgrians. Thus are The Four Sisters loved and worshiped by all Talgria. Elemental magic is granted to them, as a reminder of the Goddesses' presence in all men and women.
Year 1:
The beginning of recorded history. These are the records kept by the future Vox Chronologica of Saer'Iyaevo, chronicling the slow rise of the city.
Year 7 (Addendum):
The settlement of Bendroi cites this as the year of their founding.
Year 16:
The settlement of Saer'Iyaevo is officially formed.
Year 17:
A man known as Alareo Lenegari supposedly communes with the Goddesses, and is told of other life beyond the confines of the Saer's domain. He begins an organization of historians and scribes known as The Vox Chronologica, which is still active today. Chronologers, its field agents, take a vow of silence, swearing only to communicate the history of the world.
Their cumulative records were called the Chronicle, but are known today as the first book of the Messiahcle Scriptures, deemed the "Prelog".
Year 26 (Addendum):
The settlement of Niyrtel is cited to have been formed by Niyrian scribes.
A matriarchal government is instituted by a woman named Jalissa Niar*. She establishes the "Faithcourt", a body of politician/priestesses, and deems herself the "High Evoker" (also using the title "Daughter of the Four").
*Footnote: Discovery of records from the early days of Niyrian society outline the method through which Jalissa Niar came to power, by seducing and deluding of some of the most powerful men (and some women) in the settlement, using her extreme beauty and intelligence to convince them she was a daughter of the Goddesses Themselves. She used their backing to strong-arm the rest of the Niryians. This fact is suppressed heavily by Niyrian society, and mention of it is considered a "High Damnation" by their culture.
30-70:
The greater region of Saer'Iyaevo is recorded by an ambitious team of Chronologers. They are honored with a new branch of the Vox Chonologica, known as Chronologica Geographex, its members deemed Geologers.
Year 62 (Addendum):
Benedite scribes site this as the beginning of a monarchical system of government in Bendroi.
King Reshard Bendroi begins his reign as the first official monarch of Bendroi.
Year 70:
The Vox Chronologica officially recognize a recently formed defense force of Saers. Dubbed the Eternal Sentinels, they pledge their allegiance to the city of Saer'Iyaevo, and the Vox Chronologica. ((This is the forerunner to the Order of Volgrand.))
Year 112 (Addendum):
Faithspeaker Grenda Soltzin becomes the new High Evoker of Niyrtel, following the death of Jalissa Niar.
Year 114:
It is decided that two groups of "Pilgrims" (a team of 2 Chronologers, 2 Geologer, and 20 Sentinels) will be dispatched to the east and west, to travel farther along the continent in search of other settlements.
Year 132 (Addendum):
King Reshard Bendroi dies. King Alfonse Bendroi takes the throne.
Year 162:
The Western Pilgrims arrive in the area now known as Bendroi. Bendroi is officially declared a city by the Vox Chronologica. According to the Benedites, the area had been inhabited for over a century. Footnotes added to the Chronicle.
Year 166:
A messenger arrives in Bendroi and Saer'Iyaevo each, claiming to hail from a city known as Niyrtel. The Vox Chronologica decides to mount an expeditionary voyage to the Southlands. Construction of a galleon, known as the "Timeliner", begins.
Year 171:
Construction of the "Timeliner" is completed. It sets out on its maiden voyage along with the Southern Pilgrims.
Year 189:
The expeditionary voyage is successful, and the Southern Pilgrims arrive at the city of Niyrtel, officially recording it as a city in the Chronicle. Again, a footnote is added stating the area had been inhabited for roughly 100 years.
First Era of Peace (190 – 414)
Bendroi and Niyrtel grow rapidly, expanding their borders. Bendroi permits nearly all travelers, but Niyrtel develops rigorous "trials of citizenship"
Saer'Iyaevo's growth is significant, but nowhere near the same level. Less travelers make the dangerous journey to Saer'Iyaevo, but all are welcomed.
Year 196:
High Evoker Soltzin dies. Faithspeaker Nora Alezar takes over.
Year 231:
Death of King Alfonse Bendroi I (aged 114).
King Alfonse Bendroi II's coronation.
Year 257:
High Evoker Alezar dies. Faithspeaker J'az Yawlindo takes over.
Year 312:
Death of King Alfonse Bendroi II (aged 117).
King Alfonse Bendroi III's coronation.
Year 321:
High Evoker Yawlindo dies. Faithspeaker Celes Vallar takes over.
Begins a campaign of fear-mongering and threats, using innumerable damnations as a method of keeping the citizens devoted and in line.
Year 398:
Death of King Alfonse Bendroi III. (aged 101).
2-year-old Alfonse Bendroi IV's coronation.
Year 413:
17-year old King Alfonse Bendroi IV is killed in his sleep. Shortly thereafter, High Evoker Vallar declares that the Goddesses have spoken to her, and that those who do not hear the Voices of the Four are not fit to lead, and that she is the chosen to guide Talgria into an age of purity and light. This action would later lead to the beginning of the First Great War (known to Niyrians as "The Damnation Wars")
Year 415:
Various other small skirmishes arise on the trade routes between Niyrtel and Bendroi. Bendroi experiences a crisis of leadership, with multiple families debating their right to the throne, which results in only a few instances of espionage and murders. An interim government, made up of individuals selected by the people is created.
Year 429:
The dispute over the inheritance of the throne in Bendroi is settled. It is decided that the Erathmai family, for years having acted as loyal retainers to the monarchical family, shall assume the birthright. It is decided that the Representative Consociate will be retained.
The First Great War (431-576)
Year 431:
King Leon Erathmai I and the Consociate declare open war with Niyrtel, following an attack on Bendroi proper from operatives inside its walls, who claimed allegiance to Niyrtel after extensive torture.
Year 568:
A man calling himself Trelkian Nolagrias appears in Saer'Iyaevo, and begins amassing followers, claiming he is a messenger sent by the Goddesses to liberate the world from darkness. He names eight of these disciples his "Elite Guard", and assigns them each a name (apparently taken from an ancient Talgrian dialect): Victus, Mafaelstryz, Nedruzzal, Caeyr, Draga, Déchier, Acheron, and Volgrand. With these eight at his side, Nolagrias begins a campaign of peace, initiating negotiations with both the Niyrians and Benedites. The Benedites express a heartfelt desire to end the wars, but the Niyrians are obstinate, claiming their "holy war" will not end until all Talgria pronounce their High Evoker its "Divine Empress", and Nolagrias' claim of communing with the Divinity to be heresy.
Year 572:
King Leon Erathmai I dies. He is succeeded by his brother, Varen Erathmai.
Year 576:
The Niyrian and Benedite armies march to the decisive battle of the First Great War. The designated meeting ground is an isthmus some 200 miles northwest of Niyrtel. When they arrive, they find a lone warrior – Alenia Volgrand, Fist of the Messiah – standing between the two armies. As the generals initiated their charges, Alenia Volgrand dropped to one knee, buried the tip of her sword into the ground, pressesd her forehead to the pommel, and prayed.
In moments, a huge fissure tore open the ground directly in front of each army. Alenia Volgrand, having made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of Nolagrias, was lost in the Sea as it rushed to fill the newly formed gap.
Fearing they had lost favor with the Goddesses, the Niyrians dropped their weapons, and raised the white flag in surrender. The Messiah then appeared, hovering above the newly formed canal, and with naught but a whispered prayer, moved the great mass of land left behind by Volgrand's sacrifice into the center of the inland ocean.
He addressed the gathered armies from his place in the sky with what is now known as "The Divine Decree".
(In later years, "The Divine Decree" become words that are considered so holy, they are never to be uttered by a soul, and are only written in one place--chiseled into a wall in the holy meditation chamber of the Messiah.)
A few days later, the Niyrians officially surrender to the Benedites.
Year 577:
The Messiah officially declares Bendroi the capitol of Talgria, but instead of granting them dominion over Niyrtel, he allows the Shamed City to retain its sovereignty, as well as allowing it to remain the religious center of Talgria.
High Evoker Cylas Villar is found dead in his chambers. The murder has never been solved.
The Messiah's Keep on the center island, Sanctuary, is completed.
Year 578:
Nolagrias honors the sacrifice of Alenia Volgrand by assembling the most skilled and pious warriors in all Talgria into his own personal peacekeeping force. The Order of Volgrand, its core comprised of the former Eternal Sentinels of Saer'Iyaevo, remains the greatest honor the Messiah can bestow.
In a break with tradition, a non-Faithspeaker, one Quina Lilayne (high priestess of Medilara) is appointed High Evoker of Niyrtel.
Year 581:
Trelkian Nolagrias moves the headquarters of the Vox Chronologica to Sanctuary, renaming them the Keepers of the Divine Word.
Year 637:
King Varen Erathmai dies, and is succeeded by the only Queen of Bendroi, Rilia Erathmai.
Year 671:
Queen Rilia Erathmai dies during the birth of her third son, Trenton. Her eldest, Barton Erathmai, assumes the throne.
Year 694:
Trelkian Nolagrias I, The Peacemaker, dies. He is honored in a ceremony on Sanctuary, at which all the leaders of the world gathered, and thousands made the pilgrimage to witness.
Year 700:
A man named Vintor Rillus starts building a school to teach young people to control their magic, as well as a variety of other scholarly pursuits. He names it "Vintor Rillus' Magus Academius"
Year 713:
Vintor Rillus' Magus Academius is shortened to, simply, Torrill Academy. A small settlement springs up around the Academy.
Year 719:
The city of Torrill is officially recognized by the Keepers.
The settlements of Tolamec and Sevolier are started. The original seven merchant houses of Sevolier are formed, and they decided on a parliamentary government.
Tolamec chooses a mayoral and city council system of government.
721-731:
Sailors from Sevolier, on an expeditionary voyage funded by King Rin Erathmai, discover that there is no safe way to leave the inner sea, due to an extremely craggy and stormy area stretching across the northern portion of the sea. Further voyages from other points on Talgria to the north determine that it stretches "as far as can be reasonably fathomed by man".
Year 726:
Sevolier declares itself a permanently neutral territory, citing its use as a trade port by all the civilized nations of Talgria.
Tolamec assumes a policy of rigorous acceptance, much like Niyrtel's old rites of citizenship.
Year 736:
High Evoker Lilayne dies. The position remains open throughout the Era of Chaos, until its dissolution in 999. Niyrtel is ruled by the Faithcourt, the council of leaders from each of the Goddesses' Temples that all but High Evoker Lilyane came from.
Era of Chaos (740-829)
Year 740:
Hundreds of reports stream in to the Keepers on Sanctuary that the attacks of beasts in the wilderness and small villages of Talgria has been increasing at an alarming rate. Whereas they were content with simply attacking travelers, they are now so bold as to move into settled areas and wreak havoc, traveling in packs (unforeseen prior to this period).
Year 751:
Barton Erathmai is killed during a democratic trip to Saer'Iyaevo by a pack of fiends. His younger brother, Maximillion Erathmai, takes control.
Year 775:
The Obsidian Order, a demagogic faction, splits from the Order of Volgrand. Their leader, Gavin Osiah, believes Armageddon will soon come to Talgria, unless the rightful rulers--the most powerful of the Elemental adepts—assume rule from the "False Savior".
Year 792:
The sudden arrival of the Roseblades, the most feared pirates in Talgria, throw trade routes and coastal cities into chaos.
Year 829:
The appearance of demonic forces in Talgria spurs the nations of the world to declare war upon the abominations from the infernal abyss, thus beginning the Second Great War. This is also called "The Demon War" by the Keepers.
Second Great War (829-997)
Year 829:
Bendroi, known as the "Unassailable City" due to the geographical protection of both mountain, desert, sea, and open plain, is attacked and nearly destroyed by the Obsidian Order, aided by demons. The enemy is eventually routed, but only after Bendroi suffers significant property damage and loss of life. King Maximillion Erathmai is killed during the attacks.
The youngest of Queen Erathmai's children, Trenton, takes the throne, and calls for the other nations of Talgria to band together against this threat. The call falls on deaf ears.
Year 830:
Niyrtel suffers an attack from its southern border--a frozen, blizzard-swept tundra. At the same time, Sevolier and Tolamec are also beset by demonic hordes and Obsidians. Only Saer'Iyaevo remains safe during the onslaughts.
Finally, the other nations answer King Erathmai's call to arms.
830-946:
Wars rage all across Talgria. Adventurers and mercenary groups sprout up by the dozens, and some of the most significant advances in technology and magic are made during this period, to deal with the new otherworldly threat of the demons, and the fanatical zealotry of the Obsidians.
Year 947:
Trelkian Nolagrias II, The Warrior, appears on Sanctuary. He once again assembles a group of eight warriors, dubbing them with the same names as his predecessor, revitalizes the ranks of the Order of Volgrand, and then sets out to aid the people of Talgria against the demonic threat.
980-997:
After years of blood, loss, tears, and darkness, a final battle is waged against the Infernal Army, on the Eastern Continent. The combined might of the Order of Volgrand, the Elite Guard, Bendroi's Paragons of Justice, Niyrtel's Sacred Knights, and Sevolier's Supreme Armada finally put an end to the source of the demons' entry into Talgria, as well as their base of operations.
The Messiah makes an official decree that any remnants of the Obsidian Order are to be captured and brought to Sanctuary when possible, or killed if they cannot be captured.
Year 999:
The Faithcourt of Niyrtel decides to dissolve the position of High Evoker and assume all responsibilities of leadership for the city of Niyrtel.
Year 1000:
The Messiah bestows his blessing on the Faithcourt, officially recognizing it as the legislative body of Niyrtel. This heralds a very slow migration of particularly significant religious ceremonies to Bendroi.
Year 1023:
Nolagrias the Warrior signs the Charter of Dulathiene, officially recognizing the city's sovereignty.
Year 1025:
King Trenton Erathmai dies. Orenn Erathmai is coronated.
Year 1051:
Trelkian Nolagrias the II passes away.
Second Era of Peace (1051 to 1119)
Year 1105:
King Orenn Erathmai dies. Yano Erathmai becomes king.
1120-1327:
A group of Arcanists calling themselves the Praxium Nicocortex attack Tolamec, and burn it to the ground, killing all its citizens. This event triggered what came to be known as the Mage Wars. For the next 210 years the Arcanists set themselves against any non-Arcane magic user, attempting to claim what they call "Ætheria Fatum".
Year 1193:
King Yano Erathmai dies. Gramm Erathmai takes the throne.
Year 1271:
King Gramm Erathmai dies. Korris Erathmai is coronated.
Year 1327:
Trelkian Nolagrias III, The Defender, appears and continues the practice of his two predecessors, leading the Order of Volgrand and the Elite Guard in the protection of the innocent.
Year 1388:
King Korris Erathmai dies. Firan Erathmai takes the throne.
Year 1390:
The Messiah revokes Niyrtel's designation as the religious capital of Talgria, and declares Bendroi the "All-Capital of Talgria".
Year 1393:
Andrius Graiteale and Markavius Xandrion join the Order of Volgrand. They are quickly promoted through the ranks, and attain First Class status in just 15 short years.
Year 1399:
The final blow is struck against the Praxium Nicocortex, and they are exiled to the Southlands. Niyrtel assigns a contingent of Sacred Knights to patrol the borders, and eventually build a huge wall, enchanted with anti-arcane runes.
1399-1431:
The exploits of Andrius Graiteale and Markavius Xandrion are world renowned, and they become two of the most beloved figures after the Messiah. They amass a great deal of wealth and treasures.
Year 1431:
Andrius Graiteale retires from adventuring, and begins construction of Graiteale Academy. Around that same time, Markavius Xandrion assumes the Deanship of Torrill Academy.
Year 1435:
Andrius Graiteale discovers three abandoned infants, two of them twins. He adopts the children.
Year 1441:
King Firan Erathmai dies. Aerik Erathmai is coronated.
Construction of Graiteale Academy is completed.
Year 1442:
The Charter of Graiteale Academy is scribed and recognized by Sanctuary.
Year 1453:
