-----The Essentials-----
Name: Jace Longwin
High Concept: Off the Richter Scale
Trouble Aspect: Boobs...
Applicable Tropes: Challenge Seeker, The Big Guy, Goal in Life, Parental Neglect, The Gloves Come Off, Bully Hunter
Quote: "I'm not gonna be happy just to exist, I need to be better than all who came before me" Jace
Theme: Afterlife- Avenged Sevenfold
-----Physical Description-----
Age / Year: 20, Second year Junior (I may have been held back twice). I've been at this school since I was 12, so eight years now.
Hair / Eyes / Skintone:Brown hair (which I try to keep a little kept up), Green eyes, Averagely white skin.
Cultural Distinction:Thiene
Build:I'm about six and a quarter feet tall and 250 pounds of pure muscle, I've worked hard at it for years now.
Distinguishing Characteristics:I like to try and dress nicely. My shirts always tend to be kinda tight on me, considering they don't make them with people of my build in mind (I can't tell you how many times I've had my bicep break through a good button-up). Girls tell me that I'm very good looking, to which I tell them: "Buh..."
-----Capabilities-----
Magic / Magic Rating: I use Earth magic. I tend to use the brute strength aspect of my magic. I cause earthquakes to knock my opponents down, I hurl chunks of the ground at them, and I will make chunks of ground grow out at them. I can also use my magic to make fault lines and giant cracks in the ground. I once chased a guy around a field with a giant crevice that I formed in the ground, that was one of the best duels in my life.
Magnitude: 8
Speed: 5
Control: 3
Skills / Talents:I'm pretty good with my Earth magic, I can hold my own with it pretty well. I also pride myself as one of the best hand-to-hand fighters in the school too.
Equipment:Just the clothes on my back, I don't need much else other than that.
-----Characterization-----
Personality:I like to joke around with the guys a lot, but when a girl comes near, I freeze up like a, um... popsicle? I tend to be pretty protective of those I care about, probably because I haven't had too many people like that at home. I also don't take too kindly to bullying, I don't think that you should harm anyone who hasn't harmed you first or challenged you to a fight, I hate it when people are thrust into unfair fights that they don't want to take any part in and embarrassment in public is a terrible thing when it's done to nice people. You probably shouldn't bully anywhere near me, I WILL embarrass you worse than you were gonna do to whoever your victim was, and I might beat your ass. I wonder if I could make some money by getting bullies that people hate into a caged ring and beating them down?
Flaws / Defects:I turn into a retard around girls, which is bad, 'cause I'm not entirely too smart when they're not around either. I'm a bit too driven, I want to be the best there is so badly. My anger can get the best of me at times too, I've taken a few fights way too far in the past, as far as putting three people into the hospital who were just dueling me in a class.
Social Classification:Jock maybe? I'll be friends with anybody who makes me laugh or helps me out though.
Goals / Aspirations:I want to be the best duelist in the land, using both my strength and magic to beat out any who take me on. (Don't tell anyone either, but I partly want to be the best there is so that maybe my parents will accept me, I hardly even know them).
-----History-----
Family:Mom (Victoria Longwin) and Dad (Alexander Longwin) are a rather wealthy couple back home. Wealthy to the point that that's all that they really care about is their money, they didn't really pay much attention to me, but I was pretty good at entertaining myself. I never had any siblings, I myself was a mistake (or a speed-bump on the path to success, as I heard my mother call me one day from another room).
Background:I was raised by some rather uncaring parents, so I pretty much raised myself. They were so driven with their work. My Grandpa was a great inventor, making all types of transportation to get the people of the land around, but other's inventiveness soon passed him up and put him into retirement. My mom took up the mantle and decided it was time to revive the legacy by making the fastest mode of transportation for the land. She married my dad who was some sort of engineer and the two began to make their way into success, stopping only shortly for vacations and to birth an "accident". I would play in my room for hours on end by myself (sort of, I had a few imaginary friends named Rufus, Clyde and Bambino). I was quite self-sufficient during my childhood; I fed and cleaned myself, I dressed myself, I taught myself some things, and I did a pretty good job (except for a lot of the teaching myself part, I suck at scholarly pursuits). My parents ended up hiring a tutor for me named Mr. Hartnell. He was a good man, but he got very frustrated with me constantly, that's what happends when you teach me. I always felt bad for him because he was so old, I was afraid that I'd give him a heart attack whenever I'd try to do math. He was a good man who was always good to me. He felt sorry for me and took me out at times to have some fun. He's the one who eventually convinced my parents to let me go to the Academy. When I got to be about eight or so I developed my knack for Earth magic. I was pretty excited about it for a while until some neighborhood kids told me that anybody could do Earth magic, it was the most common form in the world. So I decided that if I had a common magic, then I would become better at it than anyone else. I spent a couple of years working on improving my magic.
There were some good times involved and some not so good times involved. By not so good I mean that I learned that making an earthquake on top of an underground well hurts, I fell quite a ways down into that well, but made the most of it by learning to use my magic to find a way to get out. I ended up making rocks form out of the wall and climbed my way out, which got really tiring and hard about halfway up, which is where my drive to strengthen my body came from. I would at times get "hired" by the guys at the quarry to demolish some rocks and the such for them, getting payed a little bit of money by them for making their day's job easier.
I would go and hang out with some local boys at times for a little while, but that ended one day when they decided to pick on a small kid. After watching the bullying go on for a bit, I decided to join in, but not on their side. This kid was so small and weak, it was wrong of them to pick on him for it. He obviously just wanted to get home, but they wouldn't let him. I couldn't stand the sight of this, it was so wrong to use your might just to cause terror for this poor little kid. I was the biggest kid of them all and I made them sorry for messing with the kid. I actually pulled one kid's underwear out of the top of his pants and made a stalagmite (I think that's the right one, or is it stalagtite... hmm) but anyways, I made a stalgmite form out of the ground and gave him a huge wedgie. Now that's creative casting if I do say so myself.
My parents never paid much mind to my development through childhood. Later on in years I started to get angry with them for not ever paying attention. I used a little quake one day to drop an expensive chandalier and some more loose items one day, just to get back at them.
Eventually my dad decided to ship me off to the academy to get me out of their hair. I've been here for years now and I quite enjoy it. They send a check to the school and one to me every month, and I'm actually fine with that being our only source of interaction.
While here I've made lots of friends. But I've encountered one great and terrible thing here that was never present in my neighborhood. What is that you ask? Racism? Superiority complexes? Snarky attitudes? Indoor plumbing? Fish? Adulterers? The answer to these is no, we had all those things in my neighborhood. I'm talking about girls. My neighborhood was full of moms and wives, but there were never any girls my age back home. Everyone seemed to have boys for some reason (I've read something before about ground temperatures effecting the gender of baby crocodiles, I don't know if that has anything to do with it). Since I spent years hardly ever seeing girls, and even less time talking to them, I tend to not know what to do or say around them. But I'm learning, or trying to learn, as time goes by. Everyone thinks it's weird that a big beefy beautiful jock can't ever score a girl, but I just ignore it (or try to, but it does bug me at times that they're right). I think I might get it soon though, I've been watching this Reno guy hitting on girls with great response a lot lately, although he does make a jackass of himself at times while doing it, but he makes me laugh.
Present State of Events:I got held back last year, so I'm trying to work hard this year to do good, but it's hard when you suck at it and don't care that much. Luckily my saving grace has been the dueling and magic classes and such. I excel very greatly at those.
